About MDP

The Multidisciplinary Design Program provides 800+ engineering experiential learning opportunities for students from across the university every year. MDP offers 3 types of student experiences:

Sponsored Projects – Highly structured 2-semester projects sponsored by an industrial or non-profit client; Faculty Research Teams – Highly structured, ongoing student teams under the direction of a Faculty Principal Investigator (PI) and Students Organization.

My Team

Learning Objective 1

UXD: Website Redesign

I collaborate with the ADUE developer to restructure the website. We work based from client's wireframes and redesign the MDP website with established hierachy and branding identity.

Learning Objective 2

Graphic Design: Establish Brand Identity

During my internship, I created 50+ posters for research and sponsored teams in MDP using Adobe Illustrator, as well as other assests such as banners, thumbnails and illustrations.

Learning Objective 3

UXR: Preference Survey and User Testing

I performed usability testing on the new website. I applied methods including heuristic evaluation, A/B Testing, and surveys. I presented the design choices to MDP summer students and gathered feedback to determine the design that would attract potential users.

Reflection

If I am given more time to dive deeper into this question. I would change and explore the following:

  • Incorporating more actions in the kiosk design and understand what other factors I overlooked during the design process.
  • Expanding on the screen designs of the technician side. What are some other functions and features the technician needs to make the process better?
  • What would the system react if multiple same requests are submitted? How can it inform students a similar request has been submitted?
